(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Sudbury Cyclones’ women are set to play their first match at Cambrian College, after a three-match road trip provided two wins and a loss. They’ll take to the pitch this Saturday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m. to face the Unionville Milliken SC L2 women. Following the women’s squad, the Sudbury Cyclones L2 men are in action this Sunday, June 29th at 2:00 p.m. at Laurentian University, where they’ll play the Pickering FC L2 men.
The Cyclones women won two of three road matches since last playing at home, including a 5-2 win against Master’s FA women, and a 2-1 win against Scrosoppi FC L2 women. While in a losing effort against Whitby FC L2 women this past Sunday, captain Cassidy Brooks tallied her sixth goal of the season, good for the lead in League2 Women’s Northeast scoring. The Cyclones women enter this week with a 3-6-0 record, taking on a Unionville side that is 0-7-1 and bottom of the table.
The Cyclones L2 men look forward to a home match, with four of their next five matches slated to be at Laurentian University. Their last match at home came on June 8th, where a spirited match with Master’s FA L2 was won 6-5. The L2 men are led by forward Sam Howard in scoring, who has four goals on the campaign. The Cyclones L2 men currently sit at 2-5-1 and will play a Pickering FC L2 side with a similar 2-6-0 record.
The Cyclones men continue to strengthen their lead at the top of the League1 Championship table, earning vengeance in a 3-2 win at home against Waterloo United last Saturday. Timi Aliu, Jaiden Santo, and Cedric Devos all contributed a goal each, with the Cyclones four points clear in first, with a 7-1-3 record. Jaiden Santo with his first half goal sits tied for second in Championship scoring, with six goals. The men head to Scarborough this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. for a fixture with second place The Borough FC, providing another opportunity to protect the Cyclones’ position.
