(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Sudbury Cyclones’ men are back in action on the Cambrian pitch this Friday, August 1st at 7:00 p.m., as they continue their quest towards promotion. They’ll be playing the visiting Master’s FA, the first meeting of the campaign between the two clubs.
The Cyclones are coming off a successful Saturday, where a Multicultural celebration saw the home side earn a point against table race competitors Unionville Milliken SC. Unionville opened the scoring in the first half, with L2 call-up Sam Howard scoring the equalizer in the 75th minute, his first goal for the Cyclones’ men. This would prove to be all the scoresheet had in this match, with a 1-1 draw the result.
With several draws across the top of the table, including by competitors The Borough FC and Whitby FC, the Cyclones still sit in first with a five-point lead (36 points total) on second place York United Academy (31 points). The Borough FC (29 points) and Unionville Milliken SC (28 points) sit in third and fourth respectively, both having a match in hand on the Cyclones. With four matches left in the Cyclones campaign, the stakes get higher with promotion to the League1 Premier on the horizon.
Friday’s match against Master’s FA will be the start of a home-and-home between the two sides, as the two clubs meet again on Saturday, August 9th in Toronto. Master’s FA currently owns a record of 7-5-5, good for 26 points in 17 matches. The Cyclones, now with a 10-2-6 record, look to continue their home form, being undefeated in Sudbury this campaign, which includes six wins and three draws.
Single-game tickets are available online HERE, or can be purchased at the gate at Cambrian College for Friday’s Cyclones’ match. Prices are $20 for adults, $15 for students, and $10 for children 12 and under.
