Cyclones Return Home Following Challenging Road Stretch

(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) – After opening a three-game road trip against Unionville-Milliken SC last week, the Cyclones continued their stretch away from home with matchups against the Woodbridge Strikers and North Toronto Nitros.

The road trip resumed on Wednesday as the Cyclones faced off against the Woodbridge Strikers in a difficult outing. The two sides remained level through the opening 20 minutes before Woodbridge broke the deadlock to take a 1-0 lead. The Strikers continued to build momentum throughout the remainder of the half, adding four more goals to carry a 5-0 advantage into the break.

Despite the challenging first half, the Cyclones responded with a much stronger defensive effort in the second 45 minutes, holding Woodbridge off the scoresheet. However, the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the Cyclones fell by a final score of 5-0.

Looking to bounce back, the OPL 1 Men’s Cyclones wrapped up their road trip on Saturday against the North Toronto Nitros. Determined to put the previous result behind them, the Cyclones delivered a disciplined defensive performance throughout the opening half, keeping the match scoreless heading into halftime.

The strong play continued into the second half before North Toronto capitalized on a scoring opportunity in the 56th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Cyclones pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but were unable to find the back of the net, ultimately dropping a tightly contested match by a 1-0 margin.

Following a demanding road stretch, the OPL 1 Men’s Cyclones return home to Cambrian College this weekend to begin a two-game homestand. The first match of the stand will take place on Saturday, June 27th, when the Cyclones welcome Oakville Soccer Club. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
