(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) – The Sudbury Cyclones are proud to announce the signing of three players, Stan Pankiewicz, Luke Harrop, and Hayden Lloyd to the roster for the upcoming 2024 season.
Prior to signing with the Cyclones, Stan Pankiewicz a winger from Winnipeg Manitoba, was a product of the Winnipeg Phoenix youth program as well as Bonivital United and spent time playing in USL League Two with the WSA Winnipeg. Stan attended Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) and recorded 2 goals and 1 assist through 9 games during the 2022-2023 season. Stan was also the recipient of the Canadian Mennonite University IMPACT player award and is a two-time CCAA National Scholar. This past year, he has attended Wilfrid Laurier University, while training with FC Berlin of the United Premier Soccer League.
“I am excited get started and to be a part of this organization from the start. The staff and players were very welcoming, and I felt at home,” said Stan. “As a player, my goal is to lead by example on and off the field, to contribute to the team’s success. I’m looking forward to engaging with the fans, inspire younger players, and positively impact the broader soccer community through sportsmanship, community outreach and coaching.”
Luke Harrop, a center-back from Bingley, United Kingdom, has had an accomplished career thus far, with stints in the academies of both Leeds United and Bradford City as well as the English Independent Schools Football Association. Luke was the captain of the Leeds United U16 team, and he also earned an international cap for the IFSA, representing his home country of England. In 2023, Luke committed to Algoma University, where he made 9 appearances this past season, while captaining the side.
“I am excited about this new opportunity that allows me to play during the summer and carry on the progress in my career,” said Luke. “I believe I can bring to the team leadership to get the most out of myself and every player. I look forward to the community support and bringing fans to our games, getting them excited about football.”
Hayden Lloyd is a center-back from Barrie, Ontario who has played for both Vaughan Soccer Club and Barrie Soccer club where he spent three and five seasons respectively. Following his time in youth soccer, Hayden committed to Nipissing University, where he was named captain of the side in his junior year. He currently studies Nursing and has been named an OUA all-academic two times during his career. In total Hayden has made 23 appearances during his three years at Nipissing.
“I am honored to represent and uphold the team’s commitment to excellence, both on and off the pitch,” said Hayden. “I’m impressed by the warm community surrounding the club, it has been very welcoming and I’m excited to show them an exciting season. I’m eager to learn from my coaches and peers, improve my game, and help the team achieve its goals.”
