Cyclones Drop Hard-Fought 1- 0 Decision to Unionville Milliken SC

(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) – Looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat the previous weekend, the OPL 1 Men’s Cyclones remained on home turf Friday to take on Unionville Milliken SC.

The match opened at a high tempo, with both sides maintaining periods of possession and creating quality scoring opportunities. The Cyclones came agonizingly close to opening the scoring, striking the woodwork three times in just a few minutes. Despite their pressure, it was Unionville Milliken that broke the deadlock in the closing moments of the first half, taking a 1-0 lead into the break.

The evenly contested play continued throughout the second half as the Cyclones pushed for an equalizer. Sudbury generated several promising chances but was unable to find the finishing touch, ultimately falling 1-0.

The Cyclones will look to return to the win column on Saturday, July 11, when they remain home to face Scrosoppi FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The team will continue the homestand on Wednesday, July 15, to host Vaughan Azzurri at 7:30 p.m in the highly anticipated Heineken Hurricane Game. Fans can enjoy an exciting matchday atmosphere featuring games, music, prizes, and more, along with the chance to win a trip to Europe to attend a UEFA match.
