(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Sudbury Cyclones’ men, coming off an impressive 3-0 win in Hamilton, return home to the James Jerome turf to take on Whitby FC. Kick-off is slated for Saturday, May 17th at 7:00 pm.
Whitby FC enters the fixture third in the League1 Championship table, owning the league’s best goal difference at +7. Meanwhile, the Cyclones stay first in the table, owning an undefeated record of 3-0-1. Striker Jaiden Santo remains red hot for Sudbury, scoring a brace for the Cyclones last Saturday in Hamilton. This brings his tally on the campaign to four, good for second in the Championship. The Cyclones capped off the 3-0 win with a penalty from fan favourite Timi Aliu, who opened his season account from the spot. A match between two top clubs, Saturday’s fixture will prove to be a test of class between the two sides.
The Cyclones L2 men are coming off a 1-1 draw with Alliance United L2, which included sharpshooter Sam Howard scoring his first as a Cyclone. Howard joined the Cyclones after an impressive season with BVB IA Waterloo L2 in 2024, where he notched 12 goals in 11 appearances. The Cyclones L2 men will be on the road this weekend, facing Whitby FC L2 on Sunday, May 18th, at 2:00 pm.
Looking to bounce back from their previous result, the Cyclones women travel to Toronto for a match against the North Toronto L2 women on Sunday, May 18th, at 4:00 pm. With both clubs sitting mid-table in the League2 Women’s Northeast, Sunday’s fixture is an opportunity to catapult into the upper half of the table.
