GREATER SUDBURY, ON – The OPL1 Men’s Sudbury Cyclones are set for their toughest test yet as they prepare to take on league-leading Sigma FC in a highly anticipated matchup. The Cyclones OPL3 team will also clash with Sigma FC’s reserve Team setting up a double header!
The Cyclones have faced a challenging start to the 2026 campaign, opening the season with two of their first three matches on the road. Despite the early adversity, Sudbury has shown resilience, battling back from early deficits in both away fixtures to level the score by halftime. However, second-half struggles have proven costly, with the team being outscored 4-1 across those contests, resulting in 4-1 and 2-1 defeats.
In their home opener, the Cyclones delivered a strong defensive performance but ultimately fell 1-0, conceding the lone goal in the 61st minute.
The Cyclones have also seen action in League Cup play, opening their campaign with a hard-fought victory over Hamilton United. Striker Jaiden Santo led the charge, scoring the lone goal to secure the win. In their most recent League Cup matchup, Sudbury put in a strong performance but fell just short in a 1-0 loss to Waterloo United, unable to find the back of the net despite several quality chances.
Now, the Cyclones turn their focus to a statement opportunity against Sigma FC. With determination building and lessons learned from a demanding early schedule, Sudbury is eager to prove they belong among the league’s elite.
